9.How do I launder the collarOur collars are made of 100% cotton fabric.  They are completely machine washable in cold water, and should be air dried in a shady spot, to keep fading to a minimum.  FOR BEST RESULTS, BE SURE TO ATTACH THE STRAPS OF THE COLLAR TOGETHER BEFORE WASHING.  NOTE:  To lengthen the life of your collar, after the dog has been in the pool, it is advised that you rinse the collar to remove the chlorine or salt, and then let it air dry.

8.How can you get him to wear itFor your dog to be able to wear the collar, he needs to not be unafraid of it.  The best way to get him accustomed to the collar is to put it on him and let him wear it around the house several times before you put him in the pool with it on.  To have two new "scary" things introduced at the same time may be more than he can take.  Just let him get used to one at a time.

7.Comfortable for long periods of timeThe collar is very light-weight, soft, and non-restrictive to the dog’s movements. The dogs used in the trials did not pay any attention to the collars, at all!

6.Could your dog remove the collarThere may be some dogs who just won't stand to have anything around their neck.  For those dogs, I cannot say that he could not be able to remove it; however, the collar is designed to be cool and comfortable for your pet, and it is unlikely that he would be bothered by it.  Watch him carefully at first, and if it seems to be distracting him, try putting it on for short durations.  He will eventually not even notice he has it on.

5.Will it slip off over his headThe delightful thing about this new collar design is that your dog's safety is not dependent on the tightness of the Watercollar.  The Water-collar is an extension of his own collar.  His collar is simply threaded through the loops and the Watercollar hangs somewhat loosly around his neck.  He is, thereby, very comfortable and doesn't even notice he has it on.

4.Easy to put onIt just takes a jiffy to snap the collar in place.  Simply face your dog, place the collar around the pet's neck with the opening BEHIND the pet's neck.  Join the Hook & Loop straps together, and then secure the over-strap down as your locking strap.  Just make sure your dog's own collar can not be pulled over his ears, as therein lies his safety.

3.When do you use the collar? Your pet should wear his Watercollar anytime he is outside where there is a pool or a body of water in which he could drown!  The collar is not just as a teaching tool while he is learning to find the steps of your pool.  It is to be worn to keep him afloat in the event of an unexpected accident.  The collar should be worn even by those dogs that have been around a pool or water for years ~~ especially those with medical problems, such as arthritis and blindness.  (See Vets' Page)

2. He's too afraid of the water?  The HedzUPpets® Watercollar© was designed as a teaching tool, as well as a water safety product.  The buoyancy of the collar helps your pet keep his head above water, giving him the confidence he needs to become less afraid, and even comfortable in the water.  When he doesn't feel like he's drowning, he will, then, be able to listen to your commands.

1.How does it keep him safe?  As long as the dog's own collar is the correct neck size AND IT IS SECURELY FASTENED, the Watercollar will not slip off over his head.  The Watercollar will keep his head above the surface of the water ~~ even if he is completely exhausted from paddling, or if he is unconscious.
